Roy Bourgeois, MM.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>  Fr Roy has been active as a Maryknoll priest for many years advocating social jus= tice issues around peace and more recently gender equality in our Church.  His participation in the ordinatio= n of women resulted in his excommunication by the Vatican.   We consider him a genuine mo= dern prophet and are proud to sponsor his visit to Seattle. He will also speak on what is = new with SOA on SUNDAY, APRIL 11th in Olympia. 

 

CATHEDRAL PASTOR CHALLENGES LITURGY CHANGES   

Our thanks = and appreciation go to FR. MIKE RYAN, pastor of St. James Cathedral, for his brilliant article in AMERICA magazine calling for reevaluation of liturgical changes initially concocted= by the Vatican and recent= ly endorsed by U.S. bishops.  You can access his a= rticle and a petition at www.whati= fwejustsaywait.org. Fr. Ryan speaks with great credibility as pastor of the Cathedral which has flourished during his 20+ years in that position.  For many this is another huge setb= ack from the spirit of Vatican II in the reverting to a Latinized English as we= ll as the Vatican’s= role in steamrolling these changes and the lack of willingness on the part of ou= r US bishops to resist.

CTAWW  10th ANNIVERSARY

Our thanks = go to all who made our Nov. 22 10th Anniversary Celebration so memorable.  The Fare Start Restaurant was packed with over 120 Catholics who prize the Vatican II spir= it and were excited to be together. &nbs= p; Edwina Gateley’s message was typic= ally vibrant and powerful as she challenged us to renew our commitment to follow= the ways of Jesus and continue our advocacy for an open and accountable Church.   The beautiful setting, delicious food, and warm fellowship combined with Edwina’s message to energize us for the future.
